Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy in Los Angeles and Online Throughout California

Reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable — especially if it’s your first time. Below are some frequently asked questions to help you understand what to expect and how to get started.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’ve been feeling anxious, disconnected, or weighed down by old patterns or family dynamics, therapy can help you make sense of what’s happening and begin to feel more grounded. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit — many people begin therapy when they sense they’re ready for change, clarity, or deeper self-understanding.

What happens in a therapy session?

Each session is a private, collaborative conversation focused on your experience. We might explore what’s happening in your life now, your relationships, and how early experiences or family patterns may still be influencing you. Over time, insight grows into new ways of relating — both inwardly and outwardly.

What is your therapeutic approach?

I use a psychodynamic approach, which looks at how the past informs the present, and a growth mindset framework, which supports ongoing personal development. I integrate other theoretical approaches, dependent on your specific need and context. Together, we explore conscious and unconscious patterns, relational dynamics, and the meaning behind emotions — helping you build lasting change from the inside out.

Do you offer online and in-person therapy?

Yes. I offer secure telehealth sessions for residents of California, as well as in-person sessions in Silverlake, Los Angeles. Many clients find that online therapy provides flexibility and comfort, especially for those balancing demanding schedules or caregiving responsibilities.

What are your hours and fees?

  • Individual, couple, and family sessions: $185 per 50 minutes

  • Availability:

    • Weekday evenings: 4–9 PM (virtual)

    • Weekends: 10 AM–6 PM (in-person or virtual)

  • Group therapy: Offered periodically at a lower per-person rate

Limited sliding-scale spots may be available based on financial need.

How often do we meet?

In the beginning, sessions are weekly (same day and time) to build the therapeutic relationship. However, the needs of each client, are unique and we will discuss the best cadence as we begin and continue our work together.

Do you take insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance panels. However, I can provide a a super bill, documentation of services for you to provide to your insurance company and retain reimbursement as applicable. Please contact your insurance company before any session with me to make sure you have a complete understanding of your coverage, reimbursement amounts, deductibles, and any other details.

What can I expect in our first session?

Your first session is an opportunity to share what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. We’ll discuss your goals, background, and any concerns about the process. You’re invited to go at your own pace — there’s no pressure to share more than feels comfortable.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential and protected by law, with a few exceptions related to safety or legal requirements. We’ll review these boundaries together so you understand your rights and privacy protections from the start.

What if I’m unsure or nervous about starting therapy?

That’s completely natural. Many people feel uncertain before reaching out — but therapy doesn’t require you to have everything figured out. It’s a space to begin exploring, one step at a time. You can start simply by scheduling a brief conversation to see how it feels. Schedule a Free Consultation below.

When and how do I pay?

Payment is collected at the time of service. Most credit and debit cards are accepted. Clients may also pay with cash or check. Please note that all clients are required to keep a credit or debit card on file regardless of their preferred payment method.

What is your cancellation policy?

I will also work to do the same, letting you know in advance when I am away for a scheduled sessions, normally with at least two weeks notice or as early as possible.  Please note there will be a full charge for a session not re-scheduled or cancelled with at least 24 hours advanced notice.
